Six years after her last album entitled simply “25”, Adele’s new song “Easy on Me” shatters Spotify records for the most streams in a day, topping the charts with over 80 million streams on Spotify.

This single was highly anticipated for her album entitled “30,” which is set to be released on November 19th. Her previous album, “25”, released in 2015, had the highest number of sales after its U.S. release, and included the mega hit “Hello.” This song became the fastest video to reach one billion views on Youtube and topped the music charts.

While Spotify did not divulge an exact figure of how many listens in a day,  “Easy on me” has surpassed the K-Pop boy band (BTS’) song “Butter’’ released in May 2021. According to Billboard, Spotify has nearly 365 million streams from active users.

It is no wonder why. Not only does the song have a great melody, but as put by Adele, the words are an attempt to explain to her son the tragic event of her divorce.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, Adele opens up about her recent divorce and its effect on her and her family.

“My son has had a lot of questions. Really good questions, really innocent questions, that I just don’t have an answer for, like, why can’t you still live together” she told journalist Giles Hattersley, adding that she struggled with mental health issues as her marriage broke down.

The highly anticipated song was met with generally positive reviews from critics, praising her vulnerability, emotional lyrics, and unique melody. It has reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a milestone that most musicians only dream of reaching. Her album “30” has broken records for most pre-adds.
