You may not have been rooting for the Rams to win the Super Bowl LVI this past weekend, but our Texans sure did pull through with W’s in multiple sports. Read more about the results from competitions below.

The Girl’s Basketball beat Chavez on Feb. 5 to clinch the title of 2021-2022 18-6A District Champions. They play Cy-Fair on Feb. 15 in the first round of Bi-District Playoffs. The match-up will be held at Delmar Stadium at 5:30 p.m. Go support them in their journey to State! Follow @lamargbb for all the latest information.

The Boy’s Basketball Team ended their regular district play on Feb. 12 in a win vs. Chavez. The team finished with a 11-1 district record and earned the 2021-2022 18-6A District Champions title. They will continue to the Bi-District Playoffs. Follow their Instagram @lamartexansbasketball for more information on their upcoming game.

The Lamar Discobots Team is on a roll as they won 1st place in the Robot Skills Championship at Mont Belvieu on Feb. 12. They recently received the Excellence Award from VEX Robotics in a competition last month and they won the design award for the best engineering notebook this month. The team is showing that consistency and hard work will pay off! Congratulations to the Discobots team and if you are interested in joining, talk with Coach David Cemer in room N311.

The Varsity Soccer Team battled Sam Houston on Feb. 12 to lead them to a 4-0 standing in district play. They have started their season off with a KICK as first in the district! Also, shoutout to the JV Team which won their game vs. Sam Houston with a spectacular 6-0 final score. The soccer team is one to watch and the next varsity game is on Feb. 16 at Delmar Stadium vs. Westbury, 5 p.m.

The Color Guard competed in the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) Goose Creek Contest and placed first in the Novice category with a commanding score of 58.220 on Feb. 12. The Rangerettes competed in the HISD MA Contest at Waltrip High School on Feb. 12 and received multiple accolades. The Officer team was awarded the following: first place officer modern, first place officer lyrical, first place officer contemporary, first place officer open, outstanding choerography, outstanding technique, super sweepstakes, judges award winner: modern, judges award winner: contemporary; outstanding first place officers and first place overall officers. The Ensemble placed second in the lyrical and in the hip-hop categories. In Teams were awarding the following: first place Jazz, first place kick, first place hip-hop, first place pom, super sweepstakes in choreography and technique, judges award: jazz, pom, hip-hop and kick, outstanding first place team and second place overall dance team. In the solo competition, first place was awarded to Lisa Yamamoto and fourth place to Paidon Hartfield. In the duet competition, first place went to Lauren Lozoya and Kaitlyn Archiega. The Lamar Dance Theatre completed in the HISD MA Dance contest at Waltrip High School on Feb. 12 and received top marks. The team was awarded fourth place overall with accolades in outstanding dance technique, outstanding dance choreography and super sweepstakes. The judges awarded them with Team Modern. They won first place in Small Select Jazz, Small Select Modern, Small Select Open, snall Ensamble 17-18 LTD Hip-Hip and Large Ensemble 17-18 LDT Hip-Hop. Second place in Small Select Contemporary and third place in Small Select Lyrical. Solo top marks went to Jacqueline Taylor, first place 17-18 solo, and Kylah Dorsey, second place 17-18 solo.
