This year, the girls golf team has took home the gold, with the boys golf team winning second place overall.

Sophomore Stephen Hernandez won the individual District Championship. 

  Personally, I just put them in position to do the best they can and helped them with the best stuff like uniforms and balls and bags and stuff like that. So it’s really all them. I’m giving them all the credit,” golf coach Gary Kansas said. 

Many players have different strengths and weaknesses.

“When we could practice park golfing, I’d say perhaps irons are the weakest part for me personally. It is just that this is a difficult club to get good at, especially with distance or whatnot, and kind of have to balance out with accuracy because it’s the driver, you can just get really, really far. But with irons, you can have taken those distances and accuracy,” junior John Thweatt said.

This tournament was the culmination of the golfers’ hard work throughout the season.

  “I think the monumental experience was that I tied my personal record. So that was really nice, especially with it being the last tournament of my senior season. From this experience, I just want to take the memories. It’s my last game, my last tournament of my high school career. It was just a good note to end on. It feels great. Like not only knowing, I did it by myself, but I could do it with my team,” senior and girls District Champion Colombe Emal- Langrand said.
