What’s that zipping down the streets of Lamar? It’s none other than the hot new rides from the Cars of Lamar club. Composed of three Juniors, Enzo Saltzman, David Steeples and Nhan Phan.

The main reason for starting this club was to be able to share their passion and love for cars with other people. The idea had always been present, however it was a matter of how and when they were going to make it happen.

“We all wanted a club where we could hangout and talk about each person’s car,“ Steeples said. “The idea had been in the back of Enzo, Nhan and I’s mind but we just didn’t have the time to make it a reality until this year.”

Prior to the club, Saltzman had been going to other car meets and adored the community behind it so much that he wanted to bring it to Lamar.

“I came up with the idea from years of going to car meets,” Saltzman said. “I loved seeing how loving it was and I just wanted to create a positive community for car lovers.”

Despite Saltzman coming up with the idea, each of the founding members had already had a passion and interest in not only the design and engineering of cars but motorsports (racing) in general.

“My interest in cars stretches beyond the ordinary car,” Phan said. “Things like gt3 racing and Motogp (motorcycle racing) and just growing up around motorsports has really influenced the way I look at cars.”

Though there were little worries about starting the club, their major concern was being able to get people to join.

“There weren’t really any setbacks,” Steeples said. “I was mostly worried about the amount of people who were going to join. I thought no one was going to sign up but we blossomed and got over 90 people at club fair.”

Although they don’t have a set date or location, all information about future meetings can be found through their Instagram, @cars.of.lamar and their Remind, @lamarcars.

“Everything about cars interests me, sounds, speed, the design, everything about them is a work of art,” Saltzman said. “All three of us started this club by just being teens bonding over our love for cars.”
